Now, With Feeling
In High School band, we would sight-read a new piece, and it would sound mechanical. Eventually, our band director would say, "Now, with feeling!" Sometimes, we would write that on our music score as a reminder.
Love
Love is Lord
It has been said that "Jesus is Lord" is a three-word summary of the gospel. If Jesus is God and God is love, it follows that Love is Lord.
Sliders!
There's a form of backsliding that looks like taking the Lord's name in vain, claiming to be his but behaving like the world we were rescued from. Churches make much of this.
Reunited
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. The Church's project is to bear God's name faithfully. God is relational, as evident in the Trinity. Our work with God is to rectify brokenness, especially broken relationships.
Inviting Invasion
God is altogether other. His kingdom is a rule of love. This kingdom comes as more and more people surrender to his rule in their work, play, relationships — all of life.
Our Father
I am a father, but not like this father. My moods can influence my interactions. This Father is never weary, never insecure, never anxious. This Father is unending unconditional love.
The Only Thing That Matters
Here, Paul says faith and love are two sides of the same coin in the right system.
Love is a Gift
Love is the gift of self. A gift must be given. Like mercy and forgiveness, it cannot be demanded, pressured, manipulated, or extorted.
I Want to Know What Love Is
Jesus obeyed the Father, surrendered himself to Caesar, and offered himself on the cross. We don't want to be a Foreigner to this kind of love!
God is Love
We can come to the Bible to know about God, "God is love." And we can come to the Bible to know him.
