Through and Through The New Testament envisions the Church being thoroughly saturated with ⏤ marinated in ⏤ the character and ways of Jesus. We take the Father's name. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Belong to Become We try to be independent, logical, and objective. Realistically, we are social, relational, and interdependent, formed in groups and families.
Reunited Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. The Church's project is to bear God's name faithfully. God is relational, as evident in the Trinity. Our work with God is to rectify brokenness, especially broken relationships.
Here, Like There Many would have us believe that heaven is a place of escape when we die. But it's better to view heaven as the capital of another realm with a different government, a benevolent governance, and a distinctly different culture.
In Us. In Me. Your will be done. I remember Henry Blackaby teaching in Experiencing God that "What is God's will for my life?" is the wrong question. The right question is "What is God's will?"
God is Near Attention to God's with-ness would certainly form my dependency, my heart, and my behavior.
To Know God and Make Him Known With God, we experience an eternal kind of life, and we invite others to experience that life with us. Oh, what joy!
Connection We have been set in communities. For the most part, we don't find these communities or build them. We receive them.
Connection I live in a U.S. county with traffic problems. It's a peninsula, and what's not swamp land has been developed. Building new roads is difficult and expensive. Making things worse, roads that could connect don't.
On Being Neighborly I recently saw a social media post about the angle of the sun and the risk of sunburn. The main takeaway is that the sun's intensity in April is comparable to that in August. Where I live, August feels different than April; August is hot and humid, while April is generally pleasant.
