Sillage

Sillage in perfume refers to the trail created by a perfume when it is worn on the skin. It comes from the word in French for "wake" and can best be described as how a fragrance diffuses "in a person's wake," or, behind the wearer as they move.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
‒ 2 Cor. 2:14 NIV

The aroma (or fragrance) of the knowledge of God. When we discover that the knowledge of God = eternal life, we see he wants us to spread the fragrance of that eternal life everywhere we go. What do we 'smell like' to the world?
