Church Street

The crossing of faith and actual lived life.

Church Street

Church Street is a space to share about faith and actual lived life. Many towns have a paved path bearing this name—more than 4000 in the U.S. alone, I'm told. There is likely a church there, or at least once was. A church is a particular kind of community called out and set apart to God. Just beyond the doors of a church building, we find a parish, a larger community of neighbors to be loved. Homes, schools, shops, cafes, law offices, maybe an orthodontist. Bikes, pedestrians, and tree-lined sidewalks. Inhabitants share life's joys and struggles, as they carry diverse hopes and dreams for their neighborhood. Often, Church Street is located near the town center. Though not as common today, churches were once at the center of community life.

The life on Church Street, whether on Sunday or Monday, is Actual Lived Life. Too often, we dwell in abstraction, a life of what-ifs, what-abouts, and out-theres. On social media, some dance from hilltop to hilltop. Others hide out in deep ravines. But life up close involves ridge walking, valley slogs, and everything between. Real life, as it is actually lived, is more like a topographical map. This is the life we must see and bring to God.

What you will find here

The posts you find here profile an eclectic mix of subjects. I say subjects because I prefer to treat even things as more than objects. I want to see what they show me. I want to hear what they have to say. You can expect posts about walks, trips, books, good meals, photographs, songs, stories, and more. Not every post will be religious, but I hope my faith comes through.
